Meet Andrea: The Guide Who’ll Make You Fall in Love with Prague

If you’re planning a trip to Prague and want to see more than just the usual tourist spots, Andrea is the person you want to meet. For over 20 years, she’s been sharing her deep love of the city with travelers from all over the world through her company, My Prague Tours. Her tours are full of stories, charm, local secrets—and a whole lot of heart and fun.

We sat down with Andrea to hear more about her journey, her tours, and what makes exploring Prague with her such a unique experience.

Q: Andrea, what made you become a tour guide in the first place?

Honestly, it was love—love for my city. I’ve lived in Prague all my life and I’m still amazed by how beautiful and layered it is. Becoming a guide was a natural path during my University studies. I love English, traveling, sharing stories, history, culture...

Q: How would you describe your guiding style?

Warm, relaxed, and very personal. I don’t do “one size fits all” tours. I like to get to know my clients and shape the tour around them—whether it’s their interests, pace, or even their mood that day. My goal is to make it feel like you're exploring the city with a friend who just happens to know a lot about Prague:)

Q: What kinds of tours do you offer? Tell us more in just one sentence, please:

The Prague Package – A perfect deep dive into both the iconic sights and some secret corners.
Just Orientation – Great for getting your bearings if you’ve just arrived.
Jewish Town Tour – We walk through centuries of rich history and amazing culture.
Communist Prague – I lived through it, so I share what it was really like...
CafĂ© Tour – A lovely way to explore Prague through its historic cafĂ©s (with lots of stories and a slice of cake!).
Off-the-Beaten-Path – This one’s for the curious explorers who want to see a different side of Prague is my very favourite.
Terezín – A powerful and emotional day trip to the memorial of the former WWII ghetto.

Q: What do you think makes your tours special?

It’s really about the connection. I don’t just talk at people—I talk with them. I share stories, not just facts. And my clients share amazing stories! My tours are full of little moments: laughing together, pausing for coffee, or noticing a detail carved into a wall that most people walk right past. I want you to leave feeling like you’ve truly met Prague, not just visited it.

Q: You also offer something for people who want to prepare before they arrive, right?

Yes! I created an online course called Your Perfect Prague—it’s full of local tips, ready-to-use itineraries, and practical advice for making the most of your time here. I want people to feel excited and confident about their trip, even before they land. It is made for all those who are planners as me.

Q: After so many years, do any moments still stand out to you?

Oh, many! Every tour is different because every guest is different. I’ve seen people propose, get impressed in the Jewish Quarter, or gasp the first time they see the Charles Bridge. But what really sticks with me are the relationships—some clients have become dear friends. It’s a privilege to be part of someone’s travel story. I love being recommended by clients who toured with me 12 or even more years ago. That's something!

Q: Be honest—have you ever had a funny mess-up on tour?

Oh yes, plenty! Language slip-ups were my specialty at the beginning. I have been studying English long but... one time, e.g., at the Astronomical Clock, I was explaining the procession of the "apostles" and my clients looked puzzled
then burst out laughing. Turns out they thought I said "apple sauce" comes out of the clock every hour! I felt so bad!!! But laughter is the best souvenir, right?
